Changing the mindset of society

How can we move the society’s mindset from being extremely traditional and restrictive to more open minded?
Why does tradition = restriction?

Unbelievable. We're already extremely open-minded compared to what we were like in the past. Seriously, what in today's society is still "traditional and restrictive". Give me one example.

You people can just never have enough.

There are lots of examples. But they don't apply to the whole of society.

As a society, death is still very much a taboo subject.

The emergence of transgenderism is a very uncomfortable subject for many although this will likely change with time as it has for homosexuality and alternative lifestyles. That said, there still isn't an unconditional acceptance of such people by many.

But it is clear to me that there is still a strong undercurrent of a class based society which also blends into casual and unconscious racism and discrimination.

1) How is death a taboo subject? I genuinely want to know
2)No country in the world has fully accepted transgenderism and i dont think they ever will not bc they are traditional but because people dont accept things that they dont understand and also there are a lot of issues surrounding the subject of lgbtq in general so there will never be universal acceptance and that's okay; nothing can ever be accepted by everyone. its not an issue of tradition
3) A class based society is a good thing. unless of course you're a socialist in which case im not even going to bother haha

Because people don't like/want to talk about it, for obvious reasons.

Who says people don't understand it? As opposed to simply don't agree with the opinion that a man can become a woman and vice versa.

I dont know; i personally talk about death quite openly. But i dont think death can ever be one of those things people just speak about casually just because it is a bad thing and scares people. Its not really an issue unless im missing something?

A lot of people dont understand feelings they've never felt before so they're naturally opposed. Also people have a problem with children doing it. Again its not about tradition, and its not one of those things that can ever be fully accepted because people dont think outside their own small world. Also to the person before who said homosexuality has been accepted, that isn't true. We still have a long way to go

1. Have you spoken to your parents / gradparents about their / your deaths? If not, why not. Its going to happen some time.
2. Or the alternative view is that they are not traditional and therefore not wholesome and acceptable.
3. So the working class should know their place whilst the upper class are bred to rule and lead?

Also, instead of speaking about transgenderism which already gets spoken about loads, we should speak about why circumcision of children is legal and accepted? that's one of the things i find disgusting about western countries, that they dont ban this (unless off for medical reasons)

You brought it up..
Not sure how the two are in any way comparable though, or how circumcision has anything to do with the west? It is prevalent in many cultures.

It's not so much 'scaring people' as it being an unpleasant topic to discuss. Who wants to chat willy nilly about their friends and family kicking off?

So your view is anyone who disagrees with 'transgenderism' is a small minded bigot? One thinks not.
I can assure you plenty of people are perfectly educated on the matter and still don't agree with it.
Its fairly accepted in the west, if not more traditional countries.

I brought it up because i find it strange how loads of people here complain about how not everyone accepts transgenderism etc etc but yet they're okay with circumcision even though most western cultures dont have it in their culture and its a barbaric practise.

You're comparing the incomparable..
At any rate, whilst it may or may not be barbaric, it is still a finely ingrained part of western culture given its prominence in the abrahamic faiths.
