What's the most plausible pathway (as complex as it already is)?

Why are the Kurds seen as a very distinct group of people compared to other Iraqis, Iranians etc..

were they are different culture e.g. before Islamisation and did they have a different religion before this and do they consider themselves to be Arab?

No we consider ourselves Kurds! We are seen as distant people cause we don’t have our homeland! Yes before Islam they had Zoroastrianism and before that they worshipped fire!.

2 parties does not equal all Kurds loving each other. With the Syrian/Iraqi/Turkish/Iranian leaderships being famously hostile to each other.
