Macbook or ipad for a law degree

Hey! I'm planning to begin my Law degree this year (probably KCL, yet still waiting for my dream university of Glasgow to reach out). And as for the studies to begin, I am thinking whether to get a Macbook Air 2019 or an Ipad Pro. Anyone from the law courses could help me out what would be better? I know there may be a lot of essays to write, thus Macbook would probably be better for this thing, yet I am unsure how it looks like with the notes during lectures, for which Ipad may be more convenient. I would be grateful for any answer!
I'm not a law student but there's a youtube called Elena Handtrack who uses an Ipad so you could see how she studies with that (she also has an computer)
I say get the MacBook. iPad is great, but only get it if you have a working laptop already you'll be using alongside it - doesn't need to be apple.
