How long does it take to receive your pre enrollment email to set up ones IT account and whatnot?

I'm sure the university rep will answer this one too when they next log in, but just be aware that sometimes the emails sent to your personal email address before you join don't end up arriving and the uni makes no apology for this. Twas a few years ago now, but I had to ring up the IT department to ask for my username and password because I hadn't received it when I should. I also missed an accommodation offer from Keele because I hadn't received an email informing me that I had one!

Hi, I know this thread is 3 years old 😬 those who studied Adult Nursing at Keele - how did you find it? What’s your experience been like? I have two young children so I’m wondering if they’re quite supportive?

Hi @Lexie1995
I hope you don't mind me jumping on your post.
I would just like to know how you are finding the adult nursing course at Keele University and now you have completed your first year. How you found the course and the support from the course leaders and other student's. I am due to start Septemeber 2025 many thanks.

Hi, sorry if this question has been asked before but I was curious to know whether there is any way to get to know people before you start in september. Are there any online groups I can join to get to know people? Thank you Eliza

Often they'll run offer holder events in the coming weeks, have a look on the uni website.

Back in my day (:shakecane:) we used to have official facebook groups and that kind of thing. Not sure what the preferred means of getting connected is - have a look on KeeleSU website to see what they say on there :yy:

How far is the commute from Keele university to Manchester or Birmingham

Hi @EBarratt23
I will be a keele university student in September too, but for Adult nursing. I am more than happy to stay in touch as Keele University students.

I believe there is this page https://www.keele.ac.uk/students/lifeoutsideofstudy/welfareandwellbeing/peersupportschemes/welcomebuddies/requestawelcomebuddy/#how-do-i-sign-up-to-have-a-buddy?

Once you have enrolled and know your student email not personal. Then I would recommend signing up to requesting a study buddy and getting to know someone as you start in September. Most courses eventually have students creating a WhatsApp group to discuss what they know and what they like about the course etc. Allows students to help and support each other through university and then you can professionally stay in touch with career like-minded people and eventually you will make friends along the way. So do not worry.

Driving or public transport?
I would use google maps for some estimates rather than my outdated knowledge at this point

Hello.
I don't know if this feed still exists. However I would like to professionally ask how do I apply to become a Keele university ambassador when/IF there is a position available and how did you fit it in around your studies, placement and being a student nurse thank you.

Keele's marketing department offer ambassador jobs out in around late October / early November (this may have changed, I'm 8 years out of this now).

People apply, provided they turn up when they're supposed to (I completely forgot :innocent: ) and generally present themselves in an orderly manner then lots of people are hired on flexible time contracts and asked to work. You'd be doing the big open days, smaller events are where they'll only need a certain number of people so if you're busy with your course you can say no.

Hi!
I am a student at Keele University in my 2nd year of Adult Nursing.
I am also a Student Ambassador for the university so I thought it might be a nice idea to set up this thread so people can ask questions easily!
So, fire away!

Hi
I dont have GCSEs but I have a level 4 certificate of higher education in law. I was invited to sit an English exam at keele. Would that be enough for adult nursing with foundation year?

Thank you

Hello @Wanesa1996

Do as 04MR17 has advised. However I have an ordinary degree in business management at level 4 from previous university education. It is my understanding as a new adult nursing student heading into my first year. That to do any nursing course you need at least a C grade or above in both GCSE English and Mathematics, a university likes you to have some sort of science related subject. I have just completed a level 3 Access course in Midwifery foundation year. This has enabled me to pursue a career in adult nursing as a student of Keele University which is similar to 3 A-levels in Biology, Chemistry and Psychology or Sociology.

If you check the course information on the Keele website under requirements there should be a short list of grade details needed as a requirement to get on to the course. Finally best of luck.

Hi could you please share how placements are. Are they able to make changes to your schedule if you have commitments ect. taking a child to school in the morning. Would they push back the start to 9am if I asked? The person interviewing me said it depends on the placement so would love to hear from current students
