crime thriller book recommendations

My friend loves this genre of books (crime thriller) and I want to buy her a book to read but I have no idea which ones are good as all the books that look good have mixed reviews so I don’t know what to expect.
Her favourite book is “the secret” by Katerina Diamond and has read most of the book by this
author.

I would recommend the Perfect Remains the D.I. Callanach series.

The danger is if you are buying only one is that she has read it and its non returnable.

idk if this counts as thriller, but crime and punishment is pretty good
