I did both (I’m in yr 11 and our exams have been cancelled but I’m predicted 9s for both)
You see I ADORE the humanities and decided to do them both and found it worth it. When it comes to which is more difficult, in my opinion it depends on the person as in geo there’s memory as well as stimulus response where u answer questions on an unknown case (tht was my paper 3 ocr b) whereas in history the focus is essay structure AND memory.
I found history easier to be fair as physical geography was a bit painful at times (the human made up for it tho) and I don’t mind my arms hurting in history exams. Again it depends on what you’re more passionate about. Nazi germany was overhyped, we barely acc learned about Hitler and the course stops before ww2 is fully explored (I did edexcel)
Hoped this helped Xx

lots of people do it, and if you like both subjects then i'd say go for it! i only did gcse geography but i think most people find it easier than history as you can rely on common sense a little more but obviously difficulty is relative.
