Thank you very much! I'm looking forward to it, but feeling a bit apprehensive at the moment - I'm glad I'm going up the night before the interview, because I think I'll feel a bit more settled then. Only 6 days to go! Are you staying for the interviews? What's life at Hertford like?

I wish I was staying for interviews :frown: they didn't give 1st years the chance to help out... fingers crossed I get to next year!

Hertford is amazing - it really lives up to its reputation of being very friendly, and lively! There will always be people down the bar, going out clubbing or just around to talk to. All first years live in college, in one of two neighbouring quads, which is so good for getting to know people and being in the city centre obviously has its benefits

Btw did you choose Hertford because of a certain tutor who appears on newsnight review from time to time...?

Aww, will you miss Hertford during the holidays? It seems so strange that after 8 weeks, everyone has to leave Oxford and Cambridge...If I got in, I have a feeling I would never want to leave! (probably all the more reason for them not to take me! hehe!)

Do you mix a lot with other students from other subjects? Is the accommodation good?

LOL, I knew that a certain tutor does appear from time to time on Newsnight Review (he was on the other week - I thought he looked a little unhappy and then I realise he had probably just read my essays ;-)) but I didn't choose the college because of that. I loved Hertford and Corpus Christi, so on the last open days, I went around both and decided to make up my mind firmly. There were lots of students at Hertford that came up to me and talked, and I felt very welcomed! Dr Emma Smith did a talk on the English open day, as well, and she seemed very approachable and friendly.

I also love your cat, Simpkins :-D Fantastic! I am definitely a cat person. You know that feeling you get when you walk into a house/city/chocolate shop and you feel like you want to live there? I got that feeling when I went to Hertford!

Take care and enjoy your last days of term (do you have Christmas dinners even though you break up really early?! Random question, but I was just wondering...)

Sorry for delay, this week has been so hectic!! But no more work left for this term  Yeah I will miss Hertford, though it will be nice to have a break (I need sleep so badly!)

Virtually everyone mixes with students from different subjects, everyone is really friendly. The accomodation is pretty good, though room sizes vary. You pay for food on a swipe-card system, which is really convenient as sometimes dinner looks so foul that you walk right back out of the dining hall! Lunches are quite good, and formal hall (every Sunday) is lovely.

I'm a cat-person too! I've only seen Simpkins 3 times, he's (?) friendly enough though. There was an Xmas dinner on Wednesday, but there were only 110 places so I didn't go - I wasn't that fussed about it, could have queued for tickets if I'd wanted. People said it was great though.

Don't get too stressed about your interview - enjoy a holiday in Oxford!!! Best of luck

Thank you for your reply!

I am really looking forward to it now - do you reckon I could just work there in the kitchens or something after the interviews?! It just seems like an amazing place to work and live.

Looking forward to the interviews at the moment, but I know that when I see the road signs for Oxford, any sense of calm will leave me.

I will enjoy the interviews for what they are. Thank you so much for telling me what it's like there, hope you get a good rest.

I'll be there on Monday as well - but not for interviews that day. Does Em go on this board?

Take care, best of luck to all
