Can I do that? Yes. Can I listen to music and study WELL and retain the information? No, no I can't...

Nah I can't since I always end up singing along to the music - even when it doesn't have lyrics...

I'm not able to study without music. I'm weird and have a **** work ethic but I like to close my eyes and listen for about 5-10 minutes before getting into a vibe. Soon I just start vibing with the music and start doing the work. It's the motivation you know, it keeps you driving. But maybe that's just for me because I'm a very musical person.

I find that I work better with music? If I don't have any music I start day dreaming and stop focusing on my work.

If it's research: music.

If it's revision: no music.

music purely to keep my butt there and working... I tend to be able to tune it out to some extent, so it's white noise really

I can’t do it easily without music, I get stressed that I’m procrastinating / not taking stuff in and music helps calm me down

So it's like a psychological thing or that you just have it there in case you want the white noise to turn into real noise on demand?

So long as it's music I know well, yeah. Unpredictable noise distracts me.

If I am revising where I need to memorize words, then I will use classical music as then I'm only processing one set of words

If I'm doing maths I'll listen to music with words because maths is more doing than thinking

Depends. I have a diverse taste in music. stuff like show tunes and slow stuff makes me focus. if I start listening to other stuff I just get distracted lol

Back in college, having my earphones in would be the only way i ever got work done.

Now, i just get distracted by it.

The best music for studying is apparently slow baroque music on a low volume.

I recommend Bach's Mass in B minor. It's bloody long too so you can just leave it on and now have to worry about it.

most likely psychological, its almost focussing because I won't get distracted by other conversations, or Windows etc
