Hi! I'm doing A-Level History next year. The exam board is AQA and I want to know if I can get any textbooks in advanced so I can be prepared. I have a lot of spare time on my hands because of Covid-19. Can anybody help?

Do you know what topics you're doing?
If it helps I do AQA History and I'm doing Tsarist and Communist Russia and the War of the Roses.

Tsarist and Communist Russia AQA:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Oxford-AQA-.../dp/0198354673
This is the textbook my school gave me and it works well with me. The organisation and subtitles are easy to follow.

Wars of the roses AQA:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Level-Histo.../dp/1316504379
This is the textbook my school gave me. It's narrative-heavy so it's good for learning what happened but it's not analysis heavy - which is what you want.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Enquiring-H...s=books&sr=1-1
This is the textbook my new history teacher told me to get. It is very easy to follow and is analysis based. This is by far the better textbook of the two in my opinion and highly suggest it.
That link may not work because my computer isn't great whoops - it's called The Wars of the Roses by Ian Dawson. It's white and it's pretty cheap on amazon.

I would like to warn you that A-level books are a lot more expensive than GCSE textbooks so be careful. I learnt that the hard way haha

Good luck! I hope this helped and I hope you enjoy A level history as much as I do

Thank you for your help! I really love History and I'm really looking forward to A-Level. I know I'm doing The Making of Modern Britain, France in Revolution and The Making of a Superpower USA (so completely different topics but thank you anyway).

I defo recommend Oxford AQA endorsed books but you should contact the school if they will give you any books or have it since I just photocopied the ones the schools have. Maybe use the free resources first because I really recommend not to get books until you get yr 12. I suggest you watch some documentaries and youtube videos so you can get a rough overview about the topics and after that, try Seneca learning
