Some GCSEs could have no Autumn exams

It was inevitable. For subjects with only a small take up - e.g. some of the minority languages - the cost of putting a GCSE on for (potentially) no students would be prohibitive.

It is yet another thing that the DfE promised but could go back on. I just hope they tell us what subjects will be available as soon as possible.

I think Ofqual has been backsliding on some things they’ve said, like an earlier results day and now this.

Students must have a way of re-sitting in their subjects, especially A level students who may not be able to sit exams in the next academic year (when they were supposed to be in university).
Also the socioeconomic and BAME influence on Center grades will greatly disadvantage students and resits are needed so these students can achieve their, often lower predicted, deserving grades.
This will put home-schooled and private candidates at a severe disadvantage with no teacher to award center assessment grades.
