How Many Of You Took Perscription Tablets To Calm You Before Your Test?

My driving instructor told me to go to the doctors to get tablets (beta blockers) to calm me down before my test. The doctor prescribed me propranolol. I've never felt overly nervous for the tests I've done but I don't know if I'm subconsciously worrying haha anyway I was just wondering if taking these tablets made any difference to you, whether you felt any different or if it made no difference at all?

Thanks!

Are you joking me, someone seriously give me negative rep for this thread?

I'd really appreciate an explanation.
I took some Beta Blockers, though i'm not sure what they were and they completely calmed me down - and i passed. I'd definatley recommend them.
I'd give you some pos rep back, but it won't let me. Some people get wound up on here for no reason.
My boyfriends instructor told him to take paracetamol, but he faield due to nerves, so i dont think it worked

think i did, but i was taking them all the time anyway for anxiety from drug use (zzz). they just make your heart require less blood to function, so it won't pump like mad and you don't get associated feelings of anxiety

Awh thanks, its just so annoying! Why would someone feel the need to neg rep this thread with the comment saying 'Don't be so bloody soft.' Haha no mention of a name though. Oh well.

I think the notion that taking a drug will help you pass a driving test is nonsense.
You can either drive or you can't.

I didnt take anything to calm me down, but i started taking Ginkgo Biloba about 3 months before my GCSE exams last year and 3 months before my A/S exams this year, it really helped alot with concentrating on revision :P

I suppose advocating driving whilst under the influence of drugs isn't "ridiculous"?

I've heard that beta-blockers could have an adverse affect - slowing down your reactions etc.
Try natural remedies such as Rescue Remedy or Kalms.

Of course it didn't work, paracetamol is a pain killer! What a ridiculous thing to advise.

I'd be incredibly skeptical about taking drugs to calm nerves. I suspect they wouldn't really have much (if any) actual physical effect, and any noticeable difference would just be that you feel better for having taken something. In which case; you may as well take some, I suppose.

well, if it were cocaine then yes. But it's Beta Blockers. For the vast majority of people Beta Blockers do not make drivers drive any worse than usual. I doubt Doctors would be so happy to hand them out if they did.

While it's true you 'can either drive or you can't' surely you would agree that nerves can make you a poorer driver for a temporary period of time. For instance, the dreaded trembling clutch foot.

From my experience, Rescue Remedy didn't work whatsoever. Pretty sure it's just a placebo.
