Wow nearly all on campus! I know they will be wanting to show off draper's but I thought there would be more than 1 (poss 3) off campus events
Yeah, its a shame...the Ents Officer this year is a major London Promoter (one of the main people of it too), and he does events at the biggest places in London...I just think the powers-that-be in the SU had to stop him booking out other places, it must have been a bit of a borderline loss, or minor profit last year!
This may sound silly, but I was just wondering - do you buy the tickets before you arrive on campus? Do most people attend these events, like would it be likely that most of my flatmates are going? I don't want to buy tickets and roll up on my own
Sweeeeeeeeeet, thanks for posting this! Ive been trying really hard to get in shape over the summer and Im pretty sure this is going to set me back quite a way! Oh well, you only live once!!!

X
You buy them at the SU (under Richard Fielden) when you move in, either in a bulk on your first few days..or individually before events.
Well an assumption is that "most" people go to the big nights, in my 11 flatmates, about half of us went..the others stayed in and done their own thing.
Buy them after meeting your housemates in your flat, there'll probably be half your building not having many, or any people to go with anyway, so you'll be fine.
Reckon anyone is going to live long enough to attend EVERY event? You'd die from the amount of alchohol
I knew people that went to everything, and drank stupid amounts every day...be prepared for FRESHERS FLU though! So make sure you come with some tablets and a hot-water bottle or something, lol.
Some of us don't drink,
Oh, not sure if BarMed is closing, or whether that was a rumour...but Campus Survival (first event) will start with a chit-chat type thing in BarMed, so you'll meet more people too... (going by last year).
Eugh, that music is going to make me want to kill myself by the end of the week! Why do student in general have to listen to such ****e music?
calm down I'm excited about the music....also if they put hardcore of whatever type of music on every night no one would come....also freshers week isn't really about the music it's about having fun and getting to know people.

Yeah I know no-one would go if it was more hardcore music - I was just lamenting the fact that I absolutely hate popular clubbing music. And I know its not about the music, but you wouldn't like having music you hated blaring out every night you went out either.

You can always go to more "specialist" nights, what kind of music are you into? Am sure there's something around the area...the 25 bus is a God-send!
They have to cater to the majority, otherwise people wouldn't turn up! To be fair, last year's freshers and the YoungMan DJ completely pee'd me off, I was so tempted to push him off the decks and do it myself...and that said, I am an R&B fan, just not when he plays the most BAIT songs ever, and insists on trying to get at least one girl to take her top off each fresher's night... I do hope he's not doing it this year *shakes head*
I'm a lil worried actually cuz I haven't got accom! So I'm not sure where to find the people to go to these events with hahah
Join some societies, meet some people on your course...you probably could make a few friends to tag-along with when your enrolling too! oh...am sure you could meet some peeps on a facebook group etc too!
Otherwise you could tag-along with me
Siobhan23
ive not got accommodation either and i was worrying about exactly the same thing!!!
From your sig...I guess you got into QM thru clearing? Maybe call CCRS soon-ish to find out whether they have any spaces, or whether you'll have to look privately (if you do..just call Residences Office, they'll probably hook you up!)
And you can tag-along with me too, freshers was probably the most random two weeks of my life, ha!
I am very confused. I saw all the dates where the fresher week will begin but how do I buy the tickets? . will the university send me anything?
The uni will send you information however you usually buy tickets when you get there, see what your flatmates want to go to and go and get them....get them early though especially fabric ones.
and by the way, what if i will not have any flatmates? (I am stayin at home)
The concept of traffic lights is: Wear: Green - Up for "anything" Yellow - A "maybe" Red - A stern NO.
I'll be walking around in my bright red ELMO T-shirt this day, do come say hello
You don't have to wear any of those colours if you don't want to, IMO its a bit of a tacky student-y concept.
Join up some facebook groups, message some people on TSR that are going to QM, get to know a few people and you'll have a few people to tag-along with Are there other people you know going to QM?
Some people roll up to the first fresher's night alone, go visit BarMed and talk to some random people that look warm and friendly, make a joke about tagging-along with them and see their reception, that kinda thing.
Otherwise, make a new thread on TSR to get QM Freshers (and others) to meet up one night at the start of the week, maybe you'll get to meet some people that way!
