Hi did you have your interview with House of Fraser yet? I have an interview with them for the new white city store too and I have no idea what to expect.

Are you working for a concession? What department are interviewing you?
I work within young fashions for topshop and I had an interview with the womenswear manager.
She asked about customer service, how my pervious experiances will help me with the job I'd be doing for them, about security, about why I want to work there.

I didn't get the job :frown: Here are the Qs I remembered...

1) Why do you want to work for HofF?
2) How would you improve HofF? (!!!)
3) What is good customer service?
4) Give an example when you worked in a team and improved its performance
5) How would you prevent stock loss?

Good luck! Its a short 1 to 1 interview so it shouldn't be too bad.

I had an interview aswell for the white city store, the interview consisted of questions about how they can benefit from you working there, how to resolve problems, reduce losses, eg. of excellent customer service and etc pretty standard stuff.

If you pass the interview, told within 5 minutes after interview, you have a mini trial(which i did), the interviewer will asses you on the shopfloor and approaching customers and interacting, a bit scary because i was tested in the handbags section (don't have much of a clue!!). You just need to ask customers if they need help, if they do role play just promote the product as most possible. the trial thing was for max 15mins, easy if u had previous retail experience.

I got a phone call 10days later saying i got the job, but offering only saturdays 9-6, which is ok. But where i currently work i do 14hours sat + sun earning 5.80 would it be worth going to HOF, not sure what the pay is yet, they said all the details are coming through the post.

Does anyone know the pay???

I am currently working for House of Fraser and have been for about 5 months now, when I had my interview they asked me how I'd improve HOF, why I would like to work there, how I would prevent stock loss, to give an example of when I've worked within a team and improved it or something, obviously they're not expecting a specific answer you just have to improvise if you feel on the spot and don't have a perfect answer.
I didn't have a 15 minute trial the trial period lasts for 3 months and providing you have 100% attendance and your good with customers you then get signed off which basically means your permanent. They also look at your commission and how many fraser cards you open. The pay is around 5.90 if your not working for a concession.

Hello . Well done on getting the job! I have a Coast at House of Fraser interview on Monday, and (I know that this is probably a terrible silly question) but what could I say for preventing stock loss? I don't really understand the question!

Well, I applied for the Coast department, but I think that the questions can apply to all of them .

- I am absolutely sure that you'll be asked what customer service is and/or what your idea of good customer service is
- I had two interviews (one with the manager of my department and the other with the boss who did my store assessment a few days later) and in one I was asked to 'say a little bit about yourself'
- I was asked what I felt I could bring to House of Fraser and what I hoped to gain from my time there
- I was asked why I wanted to work at House of Fraser
- I was asked what I would do if a customer asked for a product but we had none in stock
- I was asked what I felt made a good team
- There is a chance that they will ask you how staff could go about preventing stock loss, though I was not asked this myself

I think that was about it! Best of luck .

I work at debenhams and stock loss is just like preventing people taking stock, for example. So you would lose stock if someone in the changing rooms manages to take the label off a top and wear it out under their own. So if you would be working in changing rooms you need to make sure you know who is in the changing rooms and what they have with them. On the shop floor, if someone seems to be acting suspiciously, I learnt to go up and ask them if they needed a hand. This lets them know you have seen them there and might watch them and are therefore less likely to steal. They won't expect you to know everything but if you have some ideas it will help. I learnt most of it through training. I also used to volunteer in an oxfam shop and there is a surprising amount of theft there.
