Nursing Interviews and current issues

Hi all

I've got an interview for adult nursing next week and am trying to make sure I'm as prepared as can be. While I can happily talk about my reasons why and what I would bring to the profession, I also want to make sure I'm up to date on current issues. Can anyone recommend some good topics that would be worth looking into, or offer any general advice?

Thanks

Where are you applying, mine's tomorrow and I'm now dreading it.

I did find the nursingtimes website has the latest nursing news, which had a few topics that might come up but as its recent news it sometimes lacks the background behind it
Mines at kings..... wah bout urs? i am so dreading it...and tbh i dont no anything to talk about like about the recent news...anorexia...obestiy is sometihng...buh it is more towards child...not adult!!!

Oh sorry, well if you go on their forums I think they have a childrens nursing section and you could read some of the old posts for interview help
Mine's at my local uni up north and only 12 hours to go, eeek

Hi I have an interview for Stirling university on Thursday for adult nursing and I have to write an essay which is current health issues relating to adult nursing. I would be really grateful if someone could give me some idea on how I should structure it, how long it should be etc.
Thank you

In regards to current issues a big one atm is dignity in care but for others you would be best looking at the nursing times and nursing standard as they are published weekly. Other than that you could look at the bbc website in the health section  Hope that helps  and I wouldn't worry too much as you're not expected to memorise an essay on it, just to have an awareness and some unis don't even ask

If you're going for Adult nursing, as Sammy said, dignity in care is a big thing at the moment. Channel 4's Dispatches looked at it a few weeks ago, it was called Secret NHS- Dignity in Dying. That's probably a useful one to watch. If you get stuck, infection control is ALWAYS an issue. Good luck everyone!
