Hi do you tend to put first years who are staying in studios next to/nearby each other as it can be hard for us to socialise living in studios. Thanks

Hi. We do allocate first year students with other first year students so a flat can be classified as either First Year or Returner (Non-First Year). However, our Studio blocks are a bit of a melting pot. Everyone has their private facilities so the first years and returners mix more frequently.
Where this happens we try to get a balance of both so everyone has at least one thing in common with others on the corridor.

A few Broadgate Park facts for anyone stopping by:

  1. We accept applications from any University of Nottingham student, in any year of study
  2. Our Ensuite Bedroom is by far our most popular room type and fills incredibly quickly every year
  3. Broadgate Park is made up of five parts (Albion House, Cloister House, Turnpike Lane, Upper Court and Lower Court)

Did you know that Broadgate Park is home to over 2,200 University of Nottingham students, has a University Warden who with her team of live-in tutors take care of the welfare of all our residents.

what'll happen with regards to accommodation if the university decides that either the first term or the whole year will need to be entirely online & keeps campus closed - or even if some courses are moved online & campus is open for some people but not all? will we be required to keep paying for rooms we're unable to use?

What happens if we don’t receive our student finance before the first accommodation payment ?

I wish could be a little more clear on this but at present we just don't have enough info yet.

During conversations with the University, it has been indicated that there will not be a delay. However, we must stress that as the National situation changes so could the plans for September. Once we have anything concrete, we will share it with all applicants to Broadgate Park as I'm sure the University will too.

Hi, I am a postgrad student who has applied for a studio room through the Uni's accommodation portal since all the ensuite rooms were already booked. I would like to know if there's any way for the students to be on a waiting list for a particular room. It would be great If i could get notified about the availability of the same so that I could apply for a room change accordingly. Thank you.

Hi Smiii9. Thanks for your question.

We don't hold waiting lists for rooms that have already filled. This is because we factor in a number of expected deferrals/failed entry and offer additional rooms based on this number. When a room type disappears from the application form it's because we have hit this number already and don't expect anything more to become available.

Obviously it's not a perfect system so we can get additional rooms back after A level results are released but these would be from our pool of Undergraduate rooms so would not be available to Postgraduates.

Do visitors have to pay to park onsite, for example if I was hosting an overnight guest?

Hi isabelwade.x. Thanks for your question.
Visitors do need to be checked in at Reception and can park on the Lower Court area of Broadgate Park with an overnight permit. There is currently no charge for this.

Did you know that Broadgate Park is part of the home at halls network who enhance student experience for University throughout England and Wales. During the lockdown we've moved a lot of our activities online which residents can access via the home at halls blog. In fact we've thrown open the doors to anyone that's interested. Check out it out for an activity or two https://blog.homeathalls.com/

I've been staying at BGP this year and have seen an option on the app to "book a room." Is this booking a slot to return and empty our rooms?

Very possible yes. However, we have not yet finished building in the necessary features needed to ensure social distancing can be maintained. We're prepping an email to go out today and then by the end of next week it should be possible to use it.
.
Not quite sure how you managed to get access to that, maybe you were on the app while we've been testing.

The time has come for me to hang up my mouse for the Bank Holiday weekend. Feel free to post your questions and talk amongst yourselves. I'll stop by again on Tuesday and we'll have another session toward the end of the week.

Final fact for the day. Did you know Broadgate Park has a 24 hour Reception that is open all year round. If you're one of our residents, you can always find a helping hand there or even stop by for a smile and a chat.
