Is anyone joining any societies? I am thinking Debating, Creative Writing, Law and possibly computer science and bioscience. But i am not really knowledgable in these areas, so I might pass.

Even if you're not sporty I really do recommend that you join a sports club of some kind. They are all welcoming to new members, and people that haven't played before, almost every sport has people who are there to enjoy it rather than take it really seriously (lacrosse, rugby and rowing are the three main exceptions), and they almost all have a very good social side.

Plus it's very easy to become a bit of a slob at University, and playing a sport once or twice a week is a simple way to avoid that.
