Hey, what happens when you complete your gold award. The website's very vague and hard to use. Do you get to meet Prince Philip? Cheers

At the end of your Gold possibly. I'm not really sure (I quit less than half way through bronze  ).

To be honest though, I wouldn't walk miles upon miles just to shake hands with a nobody

I am almost finished-6 months to go. I just want to know if you go to a palace or meet the prince.

Pretty sure you do get to see him, but one question - why would you like to meet a known racist who is a total liability and financial drain on the whole country?
Reply 4
Because he's powerful, I think he has a right to an opinion (be it against mine). You have a point with the financial drain but he does good aswell.

sometimes another well known person steps in for the prince, such as Anne Robinson who gave them out a few years ago.

He's not powerful - he thinks he is, but in reality, he cannot make any important decisions at all - just voice his loud-mouthed opinion. He is entitled to his opinions, but they are worth nothing more than yours or mine. He's an absolute moron, if you or I said what he did, we'd all be up before the politically correct brigade P.D.Q, but because he's royalty, he can get away with it. He's totally out of touch with the real world - not understanding how normal people live and survive, and, as half of D of E award is about a 'Service' element, I find this rather ironic.

Errrrr.....sorry, which 2.

1. He's a racist, is he not?

2. Him personally (ie. not the whole royal family), spends more of the taxpayer's money, than HE can be attributed to bringing in throught tourism, etc. Queen brings in the money to the country, not her bafoon of a husband.

3. He is a liability, he's the sort of person you cannot take anywhere without him making a gaff. (eg. When visiting a factory, he saw a box that had wires hanging out of it and claimed it looked to have been assembled by an Indian man)

I await your response.

a pointless attack. prince charles has earned millions of pounds for charity. yearly he brings in millions again in tourist dollars and is an ambassador and spokesperson for the UK who is well respected for his intellect and traditionalist beliefs. whether or not you agree with him is irrelevant. he is not patently racist nor does he insight racism.
Yes, Prince CHARLES has done a lot of good work, the D of E (Prince Phillip), has not though, and we're talking about Prince Phillip, hence the D of E title?

I agree with you about Charles though, does more right than he does wrong, unlike Phillip.

Eradication of Prince Philip.

ok then...
Hmm, Prince Philip is funny because he puts his foot in it every time he opens his mouth.
