So I just checked my email and my TOK has been re-marked. The grade stayed the same B, despite the fact I was only 1 point away from an A. I guess I should just be happy with 41 (:

Congratultions - great score.
Did you get an email from IBO on the re-mark, or through your IB coordinator?
Hi,

I've just finished my GCSEs and have been looking at university courses to help me pick my A Levels. I've decided I really like the look of Land Economy and Cambridge and was just asking for some help picking my A Levels.

These are the ones I have in mind:

Maths
Economics
Geography
Physics
General Studies (compulsory)

Is there anything I should change? And do you need Further Maths, Law, Politics etc.? Cambridge don't say anything is essential but it seems clear from failed applicants that they prefer some subjects over others.

Please help!

No these are very good choices. Your only problem would be if you changed your mind and wanted to do pure Economics where most of the top five actively like FM.

Good point, I guess I'd be forcing myself to go into something else like Management, Business etc.

I think I'll stick with them then if there's nothing horribly wrong with it.
Sorry for the double post and such, but is Law recommended to take as an A Level? It seems to be a big part of the Land Economy syllabus.

You don't need it, and it's not recommended as far as I know. Your choices are fine for LandEc. Good luck!

I wouldn't say it's "recommended", but it's definitely fine as a fourth and also OK as a third as long as it's accompanied by two traditional subjects. See the resources in my other post here for more details.

Cheers for the info, but I couldn't help but notice Law was "non-preferred" on the LSE website. Still, I guess this is just one university and the other two links were interesting.

Thanks for the help guys! Think I'll stick with what I've picked!

Mmm, but in the AQA survey, it says that the only universities which don't regard A Level Law as "OK as one of any three" are LSE and Manchester, both of which say it's fine as a third if accompanied by two traditional subjects (hence my suggestion that it'd be fine as a fourth).

It's entirely up to you though - just thought I'd point it out.

Law would definitely be less valued by Cambridge than your other choices. They don't even regard it as "desirable" for Law.

Oh hi thanks. It was through my IB coordinator. But yeah I'm happy with 41. I just really want to get into Land Economy in Cambridge. (:

Sorry to double post, but I am actually pretty desperate to find out more about Land Economy in Cambridge. I'm currently reading up on many Economics book to prep myself for Land Economy. Is it possible if any Land Economy students could explain to me what the course is all about? Best way to prepare for the interview/personal statement etc. Thanks (:

Hi guys, I'm really having trouble with my Cambridge applications. If anyone who is doing Land Economy is kind enough in Cambridge, could you please send me a private message and answer some of my questions. Thanks! It would mean the world.
Hi! I am really interested in Land Economy at Cambridge and I would like to study something related to environment, law and economics. The problem is that I don't really want a career in land development. I am more interested in a career in investment banking or management consulting. Will I be able to find a job in these fields if I study Land Economy at Cambridge. I am really passionate about this course but I won't go for it if I can not become what I want after graduation.
Land Economy must be one of the hardest courses to research on TSR.

Hey guys,

I'm a first year Land Economist at Robinson. If you or anyone else has got any questions about Land Economy, Cambridge, Robinson, IB/A-Levels for Land Economy, etc. etc., feel free to quote me and I'll do my best to answer. I know I found it quite annoying that no one really knew anything about the course when I was applying last year so hopefully I can help change that!

(I know this may have been more useful before the application deadline, but it only occurred to me now).
