OK, I'll send a few e-mails and get back to you.

Sorry Yeun, but so far the people I asked are completely ignoring me and failing to reply to any e-mails. Come the start of term in a fortnight or so I'm more likely to be able to collar some - don't know if that's too late for you, though?
Hi i'm applying to read LE as well.....some of you have got places for this year, 2007. I know that you may have not started the course yet but after you do, do you think you could reccomend some colleges to apply to. I love the course and I'd be happy at any college!

Also would it be possivle to get some help with my PS from a current LE student?

what subjects did people get for land economy who got offers?!

Land Economy is a subject? I thought those people at my college who said they were doing it were just gardeners with a fancy name?!

Land Economy combines Environment, Law and Economics. What the hell does it have to do with gardening?!

Presumptuous much?

hey i'm applying for land economy 2008 at pembroke
what college are you applying to, and what subjects are you doing??
from what i've heard land econ seems a really broad degree which gives you the opportunity to study a wide range of subjects...maybe not english though?!

I've applied to Clare. Currently doing Economics, Literature, History and Math - along with General.

You can't study a wide range of subjects (definitely not English) under Land Economy; there is a set curriculum, but in Year 2 and 3, there is a wide range of options to choose from and you can specialize (or not).
On the whole, it's just broader than other degrees because it combines the three disciplines of Law, Economics and Environment - as opposed to focusing wholly on one.

Does Pembroke require you to send any written work in?
How do you people get offers without an interview?

err, wtf's an SAQ? lol.
I'm a Land Ec. It's an awesome course - you have got to love it! It's also probably the most sociable course at Cambridge.

There is a lot of ignorance about the subject - 50% of people don't have a clue what it is all about, so come to the conclusion we learn about farming techniques. So so so so very wrong.

Land Economy is Economics, Law and Environmental stuff. The first year comprises of 25% Economics, 25% Public Law, 25% Geography/Environmental stuff (which is incredibly interesting - a lovely module) and 25% Accounting/Statistics. The second/third years can be what you want them to be. You could effectively do an econ degree in the 2nd year, or you could do a geography or law degree (well, land, tort, contract law etc), or a bit of everything.

It is by no means an easy subject - a lot of it is damn hard. But the workload is lighter than that of say a natsci student. So, you will get people saying Land Ecs are dossers. NO, wrong! We work hard (I've just had the busiest working week of my life this week) but we also have time for a good social and sporting life, which is more than can be said for a lot of Natscis (:p: )

Also, you have to remember that Land Economy one of the best employment records in the uni.

lol first it was farming, now it's the food industry. What the hell does the combination of Environment, Law and Economics have to do with flipping burgers?!

Aah ignorance. :p:

Clare wants one marked essay in any subject. I don't have any proper essays in Economics, so I'm sending in a Literature essay. Don't know if that's going to go against me, but I don't really have a choice.

Anyone else sending non-economics/geography essays?

Supplementary Application Questionnaire. Call them if you haven't received anything yet.
I am also applying for land econ at Homerton. I think i would like the course as it is one of the most broadest degree in the country. I was lucky as I am doing theology in a year and one of the A2 ethics coursework question was:

"Religious ethics is not the best approach to enviromental issues" discuss. So I did that essay in about 2 and a half weeks so that I could get it in. The only thing that really wories me about applying to cambridge is my AS grades and getting a B in A level Maths.

By the way good luck.
