I'm applying to Gonville and Caius it doesn't accept many applicants but I liked the look of it,

I'm applying to Downing..although it doesn't accept that many LE applicants. Cambridge will consider both your transcript and predicted grades if you're international..

Where did you hear that? I'm international and my transcript wasn't sent.

Yes 12 it just keeps on evolving. I am applying to Downing as well, but did they say that they do not take many offers to Land Economy? If you do not mind me asking.. what were your GCSE/ a-s/IB and prediction grades??

they never said they don't take many offers but if you look at the admisions statistics for land economy, for every year only 2 applicants received offers from Downing regardless of the total number of applicants.. I remember in 2006 or 2007, there were more than 15 applicants but only 2 of them received an offer.I think St. Catherine takes many offers..but I'm applying to Downing anyways cuz I like its atmosphere..

Did you fill out COAF? If you look at the completed qualifications section, it says that secondary school transcript must be attached if you're doing a non-UK qulification. I don't know whether that includes IB but I'm going to attach my transcript as i'm not sure what they meant.

Do we get predicted grades for extended essay and tok???
Reply 167
If you're applying to a college that requires submitted written work, when do you have to send it off? And at what point after applying does the SAQ need to be done too?

Woho... Just submitted my UCAS form two days ago. It was such a hard 'thing' to do.. knowing that merely clicking on the button entails no more editing. Gosh it was so hard for me. But then at the same time, I didn't feel that I wanted to glare at my PS ever again. *pukes*

By the way.. does anyone know any books particularly on LAND ECONOMY at all? Easily accessible ones, I meant? I tried searching on different library engines and it just comes out blank. I guess I might have to go for the separate disciplines instead :frown: Gosh.

I am writing my PS right now and it makes me puke too..I hope I will soon get it done.

Are you guys talking about law at all in your PS? Or are you gonna save it for the SAQ...? I haven't mentioned the word 'law' once yet and I've hit 4,000 characters already.

Plus I'm applying for Economics almost everywhere else...
Reply 172
Have you guys started on the SAQ yet? I thought the application hassle was almost over, but no!

How are you finding it?

Hello everyone,

I'm applying for Land Economy (2009 entry) at Trinity Hall . Im doing 3 A levels, Geography (296 - A), Economics (283 - A), History (295 - A) and Maths AS (240 - just an A!). Predicted 3 A's.

I'm just putting the finishing touches to the SAQ, but typically for me, I've left the additional personal statement 'til last (Anyone else applying for straight econ. at other universities have any tips? Do we talk about Cambridge itself, the course or both?). I also have incredible beef with the character limit

Any other takers for Trinity Hall?
Reply 174
Um, I think it's a bit of both but more about the course. Since it's a 'unique' one and all, I think it's best to gear it towards LE. Not sure how much should be written about college preference though...that might just be an interview thing.

Oh goood that character limit - my biggest hate! I'm applying for Economics straight at most other places excpet LSE (Geography).

Good job with the 240 in Maths btw, I got 239 in Geog and it's scarred me
Reply 175
I didn't write anything about LE in my personal statement.oh **** now I feel like I have made a big mistake because I submitted COAF without writing anything in the optional personal statement section..i just wrote that I'm interested in the multi-disciplinary nature of Land Economy course...

I was looking at the admission and test page for colleges for the Land Economy course and some require Preparatory study at interview and Thinking Skills Assessment. What exactly does it mean by preparatory study at interview does it relate to the test or something?

I don't think there will be any kind of test. Well, it's not like we can study anything for our interviews anyways since we have no idea what they will be like.

Thanks for the advice Ozzbozz, I sent the SAQ off a few days ago with the most hideous photo of me! I ended up talking mostly about the course rather than Cambridge itself, which seems to be the right approach.... (here's hoping). ....

No worries! I haven't sent my SAQ off yet but I'm taking the same approach with it...talking mostly about the course.

Are you applying for economics elsewhere? If so did you mention anything about law in your additional bit?

And for the question about 'how do you supplement your learning' did you write different books/etc to what you said in your PS?

Thanks buddy
