Worried about degree choices

I’m currently studying biology chemistry and psychology at a level and I’ve decided after wanting to do medicine for most of my life that it’s not for me and I want to study biochemistry instead. I’m scared that a degree in biochemistry is not worth it and that it may not be good for me in terms of job prospects. Is it worth pursuing or should I do something else?

Try chemistry instead of biochemistry; if you want to specialise in biochemistry you can in your third/fourth years.

Biology/ Chemistry/ Biochem all all worthwhile degrees so long as they are subjects you enjoy and can remain committed to for 3/4 years. They may not be as employable as some other STEM degrees - thats not necessarily a reason to look elsewhere. You need to be aware of this and build your employability skills while at university.

You could also look at allied health professions such as nursing, physio.
