A lot of the successful economic history applications (and variations, etc) are still around in the post results frenzy, along with what regulars there may be, so if you all have any questions then go ahead and ask!

Trotsky's History of the Russian Revolution..it took months to read mind you.

I studied economics at A level as well so I talked about the importance on economics in history, but my PS was mostly focused on history.

do you think it would be a problem if my main focus was on economics ? i'm probably going to apply for Economics and Economic History

Might help I guess. Make sure you know exactly which course you want to do as the department is different, what with there being 3 combinations of having Economic History and Economics.

For 50/50 subjects for LSE I'm pretty sure they like people to make the PS as balanced as possible.

Back in the day (2007) my personal statement was almost solely economics based and an offer was then received for Economics and Economic History.

How much times have changed I cannot say.

Exactly..there are so many contrasting stories. a lot of people doing joint honours who were rejected were told to balance their PS more. I think as long as people sound convincing in what they talk about they may get the benefit of the doubt.

perhaps i when i finish my PS i could send it to you guys and you could review it for me?

I would really appreciate you're help.
Sure, although because I did mine almost entirely about history so if you're doing an economics based statement you might prefer to have someone more experience with that reading it over

I'll bear that in mind,

Many thanks

hey, just out of interest: did anybody get any offers for an economic history course at LSE?

Hi,

I applied to Economic History before the Oxbridge deadline... when should I be expecting a reply?

Has the economic history department given any offers?

hi guys,

i applied for Economic History at LSE. Was just wondering what grades you guys got? i only achieved 6A's and 4b's at GCSE.

AS - Economics - A ( 100% in two units)
Psychology - A
Sociology - A (100% in all 3 units)
History - B ( one UMS mark of an A)

What are my chances of getting an offer? Do you guys think the gcse grades will be a stumbling block?
Was accepted to the LSE MSc Economic History (Research) program last week. Anyone in the program now? Any thoughts? Also Applied to the M. Phil. program at Oxford but haven't heard anything yet. Which is considered the better program? Would appreciate any thoughts.

I have also applied to do economic history at LSE - I got 9A's and a B at GCSE. Predicted 3 A's for A2 yet in AS achieved Econ./Bus A (100 UMS unit 1, have retaken unit 2 - a miserable 64 UMS), History B (158 UMS - 160 = A) Music B (235 UMS - 240 required for an A). Dropped 4th AS level Chemistry.

Application received by the School early December - Does anyone know when they will reply & how how unlikely it is to receive an offer for this course? Any thoughts appreciated.

Hi there guys I am wanting to apply for economic and economic history course. Entry requirement are AAB (A in maths) I have completed A-levels in Economics and Business achieving A. I got D in ICT AS and dropped that first year. I have done As maths and got C in it. I am now doing A2 maths at 3rd year in 6th form and the teacher had predited me A in maths. THis year I will also be taking Panjabi A-level and hoping for an A grade. So my results end of this year should be: AAAAb. Do you think I have a good chance to get into the course. My personal statment is looking good also but I can improve it also. Thanks guys and please advice me.
