Help maths question!!!!!!

Please could someone tell me the answer and how to work out this question: “A shirt requires 2.35 metres of fabric. This fabric costs £4.78 per metre. How much will the fabric for the shirt cost?”
It’s a very simple multiplication. What calculation would you do?

I can work out how much it costs for 2 metres but not the .35 bit. I know it’s simple I just don’t know how to do it.

Well for 2 metres you times by 2. So for the 0.35 you multiply by...

That's easy!
you do:
2.35 divided by 4.78 since that's the cost per metre
Thats 0.4916.
Now you do 0.4916 multiplied by 4.78 because thats the cost per metre and then multiply this by 2.35 since that's how many metres if fabric ONE shirt needs.
The answer is 5 pounds and 52 pence
Hope this helps!!

0.35 I think. So you could just multiply the 2.35 with the 4.78 and that’s the answer?
