Queen Mary Business Mangement, any good?

Before this thread gets moved to the Queen Mary forum, I'm posting here cause I dont want too many biased views.

Right, well got into Queen Mary for Business Mangement, which was my insurance course, but not sure whether or not to go.

I mean is the course and uni reputable? I heard bad things about the content of the course as well as bad atmosphere in the classroom e.g. disruptive students). Also I've heard bad things about Mile Eng whrre the uni is located.

My grades ar A, B, B, C for Sociology, Business (one mark off an A so getting some papers remarked), Maths and Economics respectively. And I got rejected from City/ Cass which I needed AAB.

If Queen Mary isn't a good choice, should I take a GAP year, then reaply to another uni e.g. Aston or are my grades just not good enough?

Westminister and Kingston are nowhere near Queen Mary and Brunel. Aston, Ashbridge, Said,Cass, Judge, Lancaster, and London Business School are in the premier league of Business Schools

Indeed you are very right Warwick, and Nottingham are up there as well alongside others like Bath, St Andrews, Manchester, Exeter, and Kings.

Heya,

I'm in my 2nd year at QM doing business management. Everyone on the course is friendly and helpful. I don't think it's worth taking a gap year to apply somewhere else - unless you can get into warwick or lse or something like that. I can't really comment on the area because I've never lived on campus but I don't tihnk it's much worse than anywhere else in London.

LBS, Cass and Judge don't do undergrad courses so it's a bit stupid to put them all in the same category.
LSE and Warwick are the best places to go for a first degree.

Don't worry too much about the test. Just make sure you get the coursework done well because it's quite an easy module compared to the ones you'll be doing next term. Qualitative research methods is quite difficult if you're not used to the maths so make sure you go to all the lectures and keep up - and even though the year only counts for 10%, aim for a 2.1 - especially if you want to apply for internships in your second year.

I'm in my second year, this year counts for 30%

For the coursework, do u recommend any company in particular to do? I hear M&S is the easiest, and HSBC is the hardest... not sure which company to do yet...

No problem, ask me about anything.

I'm not completely sure about the coursework because they change the businesses every year. What are all the options? Then I can tell you what I think.
It really comes down to what you're interested in, if you want to find out more about the financial sector (that's personally what I would be interested in) then go for HSBC. If you're more interested in the sales and retail sector then go for M&S.

I did Gazprom - By far was the hardest one last year, most other people chose walmart! I just went for the least popular option so they'd have less work to compare it to!

They are:

Bristol-Myers'
Rio Tinto
BP
HSBC
M & S
Rolls Royce
Virgin Media
Nike

So did it work to your advantage by doing the topic that was the hardest and least popular!?
