What came first? The chicken or the egg?

I don't get this, you obviously need a chicken to lay an egg that will hatch and out comes a chicken but without an egg you can't have a chicken so which one came first? The chicken or the egg?

Eggs cant cu_m so obviously the chicken
The egg came first eggs have been around for billions of years before the chicken.

However, the chicken egg also came before the chicken. If you think strictly of genetic code, we can only call anythimg a chicken once it has a very specific base sequence. This comes from a bunch of mutations that make it "the first chicken" . So the proto-chicken lays an egg containing a "chicken" (or a, chicken egg) and out pops a chicken a few weeks later
