TBH lectures moving online is to be expected, these are essentially large gatherings, and fairly easy (generally speaking) to modify for an online format. Lectures were moving online before corona, normally in line with regular lectures, recording lectures and putting them on moodle has become fairly normal.

other teaching is more difficult to move online, and group projects and other course aspects really benefit from being in person and amongst peers. Some teaching such as labs is not possible to replicate online properly.

its a sensible measure in the circumstances, if i was a student id prefer the traditional experience. I actually think there is something to getting in 4am from a night out and trying to get to a 9am lecture, it helps build a students ability to handle challenging situations later down the road. But education must adapt to the world.
