well i know someone who got mainly B's and is at Cambridge- but he had a very good reason for messing up which they took into account. GCSE grades are kinda irrelevant anyway as long as theyre not too bad!

A friend of mine was accepted into Oxford with 3As, 5Bs, 2Cs and a D.
In what subject. But he must have got good A levels.

Look i hate when ppl think its ok to mess up gcses and then just work at A level and theyll get in.
Life doesnt work like that!
If you want to ever achieve anything in life you got to work for it and earn it the old fashioned way through blood sweat and tears.

At Cambridge, Economics is more competitive than all three of the subjects you've named.

Not really true. Some subjects may be slightly harder than others, but those who "are amazing at sciences" can presumably do whatever they want. They won't necessarily gravitate towards the very hardest course to get into.

Economics may be more competitive than Law or Medicine in terms of numbers, but you're comparing completely different subjects with different types (and average quality) of applicants. Even between colleges you will find disparities in application ratios, sometimes with lowly subscribed colleges getting the best applicants (e.g. Maths at Trinity).

You're so right, I wish more people would realise this.

It's Cambridge, of course it's hard to get into! Yes, there are lots of places, but that doesn't mean it's easy to get one, and once you're here they do work you damn hard.

I study English at Oxford. My GCSE grades: A*ABCC  I was sick and did them in a matter of months, which explains why!

Sorry but at Cambridge... the most competitive courses are:
1. Architecture
2. Economics
3. Natural Science
4. Law

Should we have a party?

Zip_it and deianra agreed on something for the first time!!

No argument..

Are you both feeling ok?
I think I read somewhere about a Mathmo who only had one A in Maths, of course.

But I probably just made that up anyway

Officially I have one GCSE - an A* in Geography. I had an interview at Cambridge last year and an Oxford one this year.
