Hello, I’ve received unconditional offers From 5 unis but have decided I no longer want to study the course I applied to Sociology ba, and instead want to study Sociology and politics as I think it would benefit me more. I have emailed two unis regarding a course change, one of which has declined and the other hasn’t gotten back to me in 4 weeks. I only have until 18th of June to reply to my offers and only until July to apply through extra. However, I’m stuck as to what to do because my personal statement is heavily sociology based and I can no longer change it. What are my options? Should I decline and go through extra, is it possible unis will decline me for a Sociology and politics course if my personal statement is only to do with sociology!!! Please help

What uni is it? I wouldn't decline your current offers. I'd accept what you currently have, then once you've started try and change course. I changed from Philosophy to Spanish and Religious Studies (Cardiff). So it is possible. They might've said no cause their course is currently full. That might change come results day

Hi, the university that declined my request was Leeds and their reasoning was that the course is an AAB and I only hold ABB, so I doubt they would change their mind once I start at the uni. I’m now thinking to apply to Queen Mary university of London for their course which wants ABB

I am a bit surprised Leeds declined you with 1 grade below as more often than not universities would accept you with that. My suspicion is they have exceeded their numbers of politics students this year. Rejecting all your offers and going through extra involves an element of risk but if the course isnt for you the risk is worth it. Most universities even more so this year will accept you with predictions 1 below their standard grades.

Would you consider different universities. Have a list of universities you would be happy going to and apply to them in order of preference. It is highly likely you will get accepted. Ask the university you are applying for whether they will accept a separate personal statement. Many dont even look at personal statements especially this time of year.as they will be aware many students applying through extra will be applying for different courses
