You don't procrastinate because you are lazy, you are lazy because you procrastinate.

For a start you can realise that you don't know it all and that you have to work hard to do well. Everyone else does, no one is an exception.

Way back I read this article sort of thing called structured procrastination. Maybe that would help.

[EDIT] Thought of something else

"Only put off until tomorrow what you are willing to die having left undone." - Pablo Picasso
Well, you look at how bad your life sucks because you spend your time procrastinating, then summon the determination to make it suck less.

Set yourself a target of working x hours per day or week and just make sure you hit that target every day. Works for me.

I'll write you a helpful reply. Tomorrow.
There isn't really an easy solution to this, if there was noone would ever get bad grades because we would all be studying all the time.
What might help though is to remind yourself what it is that you are working for, and think about what you could lose if you don't get on with it. Fear is an excellent motivator!

I've just failed my AS because of procrastination - I procrastinate because i am lazy, think I can keep putting work off and don't revise until a week before the exam because I think I know it all.
What can i do to stop procrastination and get good grades?

All us procrastinators out there could unite! Some time next year though :ninja:

You're not the only one, don't worry about it.

Now, writing that out, I can't imagine it was fun or anything. Looking for advice never is, it's boring, stupidly dull, you have to sift through loads of rubbish to find the useful stuff. . .

It's work.

What made you write that out now rather than leaving it off? Something's coming before your procrastination and it's let you make the thread to find help rather than thinking you'll deal with it later. Because there's no urgency now. There's no schools or anything open.

Whatever's made you make this thread, use it. Apply it to all your work.

Failing that. It was AS. You've let yourself procrastinate because "hey, there's no urgency. it doesn't go right I'll just resit it all next year. Long as I do well enough to get into next year what's the problem"

You don't have that at A2.

This is your last chance to get everything right if you want to go to a good uni. If you procrastinate this time, you're going to mess it all up, you're not going to get where you want and you're going to waste 3 years after this living somewhere you hate, doing a degree that won't be as respected. All because you can't be bothered spending 1 month revising instead of sitting doing nothing in front of a computer.

Yes fear works bloody well against procrastination. But when it's the truth too, procrastinating will be the last thing on your mind.

Admitting is the first step.. [blah blah blah...helpful, sympathetic reply...now who's being lazy? ]

Get your head out of your arse and revise. Lots of people are lazy. But when they know they need to work, they work. You have to do the same. There's no easy solution...

It helps if you have some other motive rather then passing exams... Give yourself a reward if you do X amount of work or something?
