Ophthalmology ST hours

Hi, I’ve been doing some research into the ophthalmology speciality of medicine, and I have a question about hours worked, I’ve heard that ophthalmology is essentially a 9-5 job with very few weekends worked and little unsocial hours weekly. I was hoping if someone could confirm or deny this. Also if this is the case then would that mean ophthalmology is one of the lowest paid specialties for STs??
