i'm 13 and a half stone... but i dont understand how!

anon as this is a bit embarassing for me.
ok, the other day i weighed myself for the first time in AGEESS and i was 13 and a half stone!
i'm female, 5ft9ish, size 14, not muscley, size 6 feet and 34F boobs.
i nearly cried when i saw the scales so i tried a different set and it said the same thing.
everyone i ask reckons i look about 10 stone - even my mum was really shocked when she heard. she doesnt even beleive it herself. i've only asked people who i know would tell me the truth so none of these people would be lying to make me feel better.
so now im panicking! do i have something inside me thats making me heavier? like a giant worm or something?! it sounds ridiculous but i dont understand why im so heavy!

what should i do? see a doctor? or am i just over reacting?
thanks for any replies

Well im only 2 inches taller than you and I was 13 and a half stone, and a size 14 so it's not really weird... have a look at bmi charts and it's not that odd for your height... you are quite tall. If you were 5 foot 9 and 10 stone, you would be like a size 10 or 12 probably.
hmm Its probably fine  I get like that though sometimes, I'm 5 ft 10, a size 10 and weigh about 11 st and i have no idea how!!! lol most of my friends aren;t that heavy! but meh im not fat or anything
Hmmm I don't know but I'm similar- I'm 5ft 3 and weigh 9 and a half stone, but im only a size 8/10 sometimes 12 depending on the shop. Everyone reckons I weigh about 8 stone lol.

Gosh I feel short now haha

calculate you're BMI and see if you're over weight, im too fuzzy to do the math.

You might be one of the very few lucky people who has an even body fat distribution. meaning, all your extra weight is evenly distributed. i.e. Not only in the abdominal area, so you don't look overweight, but you in fact are.

Calculate your BMI, and post it here. that'll help a bit.

I am the same. I am 5'9, and weigh 11 stn 4. And I am size 10, people say I am lying and im like :frown:

Ps- this is in all serious, it could be your boobs. My friend is skinny as anything but has 34FF Boobs, which puts nearly a stone on to her.

giant worm LOL

well i'm just over 13 and a half and i'm 6 foot 4 and kinda stocky so i dunno, if you dont look fat maybe the scales are off ?!
Don't worry about your weight. Find out your Body Fat %
A giant worm, LOL. I would rep you, but I'm all out.
I think the boobs are the key here - at an F cup you have a lot of weight in the boobs. Also, I'm 3 inches shorter than you, and a similar weight and I'm a size 16 with 38E boobs... so that sounds about right tbh.
if you're tall then you weigh more. plus you've got big boobs. they probably weigh quite a bit too without making you look fat all over.

i'm an inch taller than you, am a size 12 and weigh 12 stone. one clothing size is normally about 5 kilos which would put you at about the right weight for your size.

scale might have been off the first time, but what about the second time? Don't think so

She needs to give us her BMI, i bet its just that her body distributes fat evenly. Not just in the "common" places, namely the abdomen, so she's over weight, has a high body fat %, but doesn't look fat. IF she is 13.5 stones.
I am 5'3 and weigh the same as you, size 16/18. So you're pretty damn lucky.

If you are happy with the way you look, what's the problem? It's just a number, after all.

I'm not a great fan of BMI. According to that I'm Obese...which is quite amusing

If your much like me you may be a complete freak of nature. I weigh more than I look, your compact!
Weight is no way to judge whether you're fat or slim. Weight goes on in weird places and sometimes you genuinely can't tell. I speak from experience there, no one believes me when I say I've gained loads of weight recently.

Basically, body weight is distributed unevenly or evenly in different people, and as long as your shape looks OK to you, you have no health problems or severe fitness issues, and you were comfortable with yourself before the **** of all *****, the SCALE got involved, don't worry and from now on go on how you look, feel and how clothes fit, not on some numbers flashing up on a scale.

You're right, the BMI is not the ideal way to assess weight...etc..BUT- if her BMI is normal, its generally safe to assume that her body fat content is normal. HOWEVER, if her BMI is way above normal, but she doesn't appear to be obese, that the person may have "good fat distribution" like i said before.

And I hope youi're not referring to me as a freak of nature  I don't half self-esteem issues
If you are a healthy weight for your height it shouldn't matter if you are heavier than you thought.
