Japanese EPQ

I decided to do my EPQ on japanese suicide rates as i wanted to study japanese at university and thought it was an interesting topic?? I just need help finding information about why students commit suicide because of teachers strict rules because everywhere i google the rules or critisism i only get "this is why japanese schools is the best"... is there any japanese students or people who have done this topic prior?
I can recommend The Japanese High School: Silence and Resistance by Shoko Yoneyama which takes a very critical look at the Japanese education system and does examine student suicide with regards to, amongst other things, ijime (group bullying, including teacher participation) and tōkokyōhi (school phobia/refusal to go to school).

There's also articles like these from Japanese newspapers and this research that indicates patterns of youth suicide in Japanese are related to the school calendar which might be of use for you too?
