How many miles can a diesel car do?

How long do diesel cars last for?
It really depends on the engine, and type of journey you are undertaking.
It is generally known that diesels you get better mikes per gallon, than petrol.

Depends how big the tank is...
2.
If you are talking about total miles it will last then it all depends on the car, servicing the car properly and driving it properly.

Many can do over 200,000 to 300,000 and there are cars that have clocked up well over 1M miles both diesel and petrol.

Easily 600 miles with 50 litres of fuel, 2.0l engine and 6 speed gearbox; mostly long journeys on dual carriageway and fast A-roads and very little moseying round towns at 20-30mph.

I fear the OP may have been asking about longevity rather than economy.

Depends on the engine and how you treat it.

What do you mean by that, and what generation are you asking about?

Old diesels like from 1980s could run for 500 k miles without renovation. The current ones won't last 300 k miles without replacement of turbo, injection system, and dual-mass flywheel, each of the repairs costing more than a capital renovation of petrol engine that lasts 300k miles without it.
