WOW CONGRATULATIONS ... i was in ramsey hall alst year and wat can i say... it's a BLAST .
many people say that it's a ****e halls as many things can be broken from time to time, such as shwoers having no hot water etc... but seriously do NOT let this bother u. it's only for 1 year and ull meet so many great people.
expect a LOT of fire-alarms to go off thoughout the year, coz of people comign back home at night trying to cook in a drunken state. this gets really annoying sometimes, if you have ti get up early.
the first sunday is gonna be really wicked coz all people will have moved in and the Ramsey staff will hold a little reception in the dining hall, and there'll be all the free alcohol u can drink
this was right before Koko's last year and was a GREAT way of getting in a good party mood and meeting new people. Ramsey is so easy to just walk up to anyone, talk n make new mates.
it is possible to get to on to the roof:biggrin: we were only a few people who did that at tiems n it was great. cud see a great deal of london there.
there have been works next to ramsey on the new halls, but it should be done now, which means it should be a bit quieter.
the proximity is s o grnad aswell . the rooms are of a decent size. i can post pics of my old room if u want to have an idea of how much to bring etc.
another great thign is the staff, ezpecially the night porters. Terry, big bald guy, who is there during the week at night is always up for a chat and seriosuly he has mentally helped me and a lot of other people if there were academic problems etc. he's a great n comforting person to talk to. the same can be said about Toni, the weekend night porter. they are both the type of person that when u get in to conversation it gets quite deep n ur just hooked. so many times when i have come back home during the weekend, ive spent like 3 hours talking to Tony until his shift was over. it has been great
the library in Ramsey is very useful at times too, but u do get the occasional group that just sits there and chats.
the games rooms unfortunately is not a games room, but if u get on the social committee u can try and get some pool tables etc. they've doen that in the past.
the social committee gets allocated a few thousand pounds they can spend on parties or stuff for the halls, which is great. we organised a winter ball and a valentine's ball.
lemme know if there's anything else i can say, but seriously it's a great place to be a fresher and known for being one of the most socialble halls. plus u can also say u've stayed where the magic of Coldplay developed.
n to anyone who lands in my room, xpect me to come in and have a look *,). ive written my name n date i left somewhere in the room hehe

Shouldn't be a problem at all. only becomes an issue if you make it one. One of my really close friends didn't drink either, but she'd still be out with us in the pub or clubbing and she always said she had a great time.
all people i've met have had no problems socialising with people that don't drink and vice-versa, so don't worry

Hey did the Single Rooms all have showers, if not how is the shower setup?
I lived at Astor which is like 2 mins away. It's a really nice area
