i want a full explanation for this grammar

beautiful leider from the Schöne Müllerin song-cycle , is usually translated as “where to?” [or “whither?”, in older English], I guess (so expressing directionality)

Whilst, “wo?” “Where?” is used when asking the location of someone or something
Wo means where and wohin means where to, I think they are used in the same way in a sentence for example:

Wo wohnst du? - which means "where do you live?"
and Wohin fahren wir? - which means "where are we travelling to?"
