hmm - good question- at a guess a lot less than get straight As at A level.

Thinking about it i only know one person who got straight A*s.

a lot of people get 9A* 2As / 10A* 1A etc. The thing is the cleverer you are the more gcses you do - and inevitabley you will end up getting an A in one of them

i dont think it really matters though - as soon as you do a levels gcse results mean nothing

On TSR probably like 10%.

Nationally I'd imagine about 0.5%.

Reply 3

Nationally; pretty high looking at the current A-level turn out (no logic there but whatever). I'm predicting about... 5%?

i cant remember what its called, but theres a site where you plug in your results and it tells you in what percentage you lie and other interesting information.... if anyone knows it??

Reply 5

In my sisters comprehensive 4/250 got 6+ a*'s so that's like 1.6%

GCSE Points and Average
You took 10 GCSEs. This allowed you to scored a maximum of 80 GCSE Points. (For an explanation of this please see this page.)

Your scored 67 points out of this maximum. This is 6.7/8 point(s) on average (per GCSE).

Percentile and Relative Position
Approximately 650,000 people take the GCSE Examinations every year. A percentile score shows how many of those people you beat in terms of your overall GCSE performance.

Your percentile is 95.54%. This means that you outperformed around 621000 people in these exams. It also means that you stand at around place 29000 out of all 650,000 students. Finally, it means that only around 1 in every 26 students taking GCSEs have your level of ability and above.

I put in my mock results. I thought I did badly lol. God knows what the average TSR-er will get lol.

Thought about it and this sounds pretty accurate.

About 10% of TSR’s ‘population’ got at least 8 A*s at GCSE, nationally it’s definitely less than 1%.

Reply 10

Seems like I've gravely over estimated with my generous national 5% then... 8p

Reply 11

Isn't A* roughly the top 5% in each subject? So the percentage would be quite a lot smaller than that since you are banking on being in the top 5% for 10 subjects. Not sure if this made as much sense being typed as it did in my head.

Approximately 130,000 people take the AS/A Level Examinations every year, in your year group. A percentile score shows how many of those people you beat in terms of your overall AS/A Level performance.

Your percentile is 97.18%. This means that you outperformed around 126300 people in these exams. It also means that you stand at around place 3700 out of all 130,000 students. Finally, it means that only around 1 in every 35 students taking AS/A Level have your level of ability and above.

I don't really believe that. I got AABBb for A level.

Reply 13

Lies: it says other people have "my level of ability" :p:

Reply 14

in my school the average GCSE results was 8A*and 2A because so many got straight A*

It's because you took 4.5 A Levels I think. That's 490 ucas points - better than AAAA or even almost as good as AAAaDistDist (which (no offence or anything) is definitely better).

I did. I'm soooo pissed off that I only got 99% in my Latin paper! Uhhhhh Mummy will so spank me because I was meant to get 100% on every exam!

asian mentality
dont get A* you get slapped and thrown into the nearest bin
dont get A you get burnt and slapped up and your ashes scattered in the dump yard

Reply 18

In my school its usually two every four years that get straight A* or there abouts

so i am guessing the average is a lot more than that

Reply 19

Yeah, see, the more GCSEs you do, the more chance you have one unlucky exam.

Eg, it's easier to get straight A*s with 9 subjects, than with 11.
