Do you know what specific time period for both of them? I'm finding it find but hard to balance workload and set work and independent revision. Currently I'm reading articles/ journals and historians' works but I wish I could do more

hey, I am in year 13 and was (during the course) an A grade student taking OCR history. We studied Russia as our main big topic and then tudors and germany on the side. My main way of revising was initially watching a heck ton of documentaries and youtube channels on parts of the course I wasn't too understanding in. This was fun for me, and helped me familiarise myself with the course more. One of the things are history teacher gave to us was a lot of practise questions; its a really good idea to plan loads of answers (brainstorm them), and then that way, you have applied your learning and automatically have information that correlates to the subject avaliable to you. In year 12 I spent most my time simply just doing this, and then making rough flashcards for the few dates i could not remember! Articles and Historian books are incredibly handy too! I used to buy a history magazine in my local shop, that just so happened to have loads of issues related to the course, and i found that when we learned some things, I already had some basic knowledge, which is always handy. Feel free to message me if you need any further help, I hope this was of some use!!!

EDIT: Also the workload is insane for this course, I agree. But the pay off is amazing, I still remember everything I learnt shockingly, and its always fun to apply and link past events to present ones haha. Try to get an even balance with the workload, but sometimes things are hard, and there were a lot of times that I sacrificed some revision for the homework!

I find that seneca is a really good revision website. You simply sign up for a free account and then type in the course you are studying and it will give you a few options of different packs that include information on the topic as well revision tasks. As for other revision, I write essay answers and revise from those as I then have the structure and key facts to go in it.

I don’t do Tudors till A2 but I can link you some websites when I get on my laptop and I can find some for Russia. For journals my teacher gives me them but you find them easily on JSTOR but some are free and they are more accessible in lockdown now.
