I hated Durham :(

I always assumed it would be my first choice, so when I got an offer, I was thrilled. I went up there at the weekend to visit a friend who goes there, and I was just so disappointed. It was nothing like I had imagined, it's so far from home, and it just came across as being really bleak, isolated and boring. Now I don't know what to do!

I'd definitely choose Bristol - i visited it recently, and it's a great city!

Thanks for posting Marcus! Just got a rejection from Durham -really really wanted to go, but now feel much better! At the back of my mind, I was thinking it would be good to have a city uni (I live out in the sticks) so am now looking forward to taking up one of my other offers, instead of sitting moping!

Don't get me wrong, Durham's an excellent uni, but visiting it just showed me it wasn't for me. It's very insular, and at times a deadly quiet town! I want the hustle and bustle of a bigger city!

Ah well, maybe Ellie prefers the quieter life! Yep, I've got an offer from Bristol (AAB). I'm still deciding between there, Soton and Nottingham at the moment though.
