A Level Chemistry Question

The equation for the complete combustion of 2-methylpropan-2-ol is C4H10O(l)+6O2(g)> 4CO2(g)+5H2O(l)
Using the bond enthalpies shown below, calculate a value for the enthalphy change in KJ/mol, for the complete combustion of 2-methylpropan-2-ol

Bond Mean Bond Enthalpy/KJ/mol
C-C 347
C-H 413
C-O 358
O-H 464
O=O 498
C=O 805

Don't want to give you the answer but here are the steps:
1. write out the equation using displayed formulae
2. count the bonds in each molecule and write them below
3. use the equation: enthaply change = bonds broken (sum of all bond enthapies of broken bonds) - bonds formed (sum of all bond enthapies of formed bonds)

Hope that's helpful :smile:
