Why does getting your heart broken physically hurt

I’m no longer with my bf of 5 years and my heart physically hurts why Is that? Is it normal
i think it's actually your stomach

Breakups dont cause physical pain. I think there is something wrong if your feeling that?

Emotional pain elicits physical brain as both types of pain involve the same regions of the brain thus meaning they are connected. Emotional pain is felt more deeply and lasts longer than physical pain. Nothing to worry about but obviously if it consistently persists for a long period of time, possibly 2 weeks, then maybe get it checked out
