Well i live in East London, namely Gants Hill. So i'll have to take the tube to Waterloo and then get the train from there. I ain't joining the ISOC as well if they have views contradicting the mainstream islam; this is a big problem with many unis now!

Looking forward in meeting all of you there Insha'Allah. If anyone is going to the freshers' week, lets all go together and represent the TSR society!!!

To itzme- I don't personally know too much about the ISOC at RHUL, but inshaAllah we'll have a first hand idea when we go there inshaAllah.

Salaam 'Alaikum everyone!
yeah the whole thing about whether the isoc has certain views is whats making me uncertain about joining.

i hope they are going to do something during freshers! itl be my first week fasting without my fam!!!!!
to itzme: ive heard the uni is quite mixed and so theres quite a few mount of muslims.

anyone here, staying at halls?
hey up bedrazor666, i live near by gants hill!

We'll see inshaAllah how it goes init, but i'll end up joining the ISOC one way or the other cause i won't be able to live without the muslim community! LOL! Hopefully there should be a lot of muslims as to what i heard...

So whereabouts u from; near gants hill as in-ilford, romford, hainult, wanstead, leytonstone...??

One more thing, are you guys going to take a day off on 'eid day? I'm not sure if RHUL gives a day off to muslims like many unis do.
yeah near gants hill.

they must let us take eid off....its like saying to all christians, go to your lectures and seminars on chrsitmas day.....
and plus it was cause riots if they said no to us!

and yeah there are a lot of muslims at RH

One more question, this is mainly to all those who are already students there...is there halaal food available at the cafeteria???
im not a student there yet but i called the accomodation services recently regarding halaal food and they said they had 2 halaal options and 1 veggie option.
oh and a question which is slightly off topic: in terms of praying salaat, are you guys going to follow the times that your normally follow?

for those who are at halls: in terms of breaking and opening the fasts, are yuo going to follow egham's times (if there's a mosque nearby) or the times of the mosque near to where you live with your family atm????(make sense..?)

You have to follow the local timings, there is a prayer room in the campus so i'll do my salaahs according to that time and regarding the breaking and opening of fasts, i ain't living there so most likely i won't have to deal with any one of these 2 BUT if i have to, i'll follow the timetable there.
