Does student finance cover accommodation?

Okay.. so after my recent problems with university of manchester accommodation, I'm after going to a different accommodation that doesn't belong to the university.. but is just as cheap.

However, I struggle with the basics of this student finance, I've really just filled out my forms, not knowing what I'm doing lol on: www.studentfinancedirect.co.uk.

My question is, will they still loan me money for my accommodation even if it's not the universities official.. accommodation?

The loan consists of two parts: one for tuition fees, and the other for maintenance. It's the second half that will go towards your living costs. Whether this will be enough to cover all of your accommodation depends a little bit on how much you receive, and how much the accommodation itself will cost. But this, as far as I'm aware, can be put towards any accommodation, university-owned or not.

Hope this helps
You can do whatever the hell you want with the maintenance loan, they don't vet how you spend it, it just goes straight into your bank account.

You're quite at liberty to spend your loan on protstitutes and cocaine if you so desire. (Well not exactly, but you get the idea)
