University is going to teach online till January? I am not happy!

My university has just emailed me about teaching online lectures and seminars until January so basically I’m paying £9000 as well as £200 a week to sit in an accommodation learning something online? I’m angry to be honest because this approach doesn’t work for me!
yup me too, even more annoying if they make us living in "bubbles" with the same people as our course ! are you considering going next year instead because of coronavirus?

I’m already on a gap year so going next year isn’t an option for me.

your seminars are online too? That sucks. I mean I do understand why but I only heard that most places are doing just lectures online rather than lectures and seminars.

Blended learning doesn't mean teaching online only. They invited you on campus and you’re going to have face to face tutorials and lectures.

Queen Mary university of London. In the email they clearly state lectures and seminars will be online so basically absolutely nothing about the teaching will be face to face.

Was surprised at £200 pw but I guess it makes sense for London... (most expensive here is 190ish)

You won't be just sitting in your room, you'll be able to socialise with other students, go to tutorials and seminars. Hopefully, at least. (volatile situation and all)

If you're not happy with this you can ask to defer, but there's no guarantees on what the situation next year will be and if you've already signed an accommodation contract this could be tricky.

Oh that's a bit unusual then, most unis seem to plan to have some teaching activities on campus.

Regardless, you'll still be able to get some social experience out of it if that's what you're concerned about.
