I got a student loan of £9500 and I have about £18k (saved up from presents and investing etc)

Is it worth getting a ensuite for my university place?
I kind of hate the idea sharing a bathroom with multiple other people

Hey TheArchitect365!

You definitely have the money to do so, so if you hate sharing a bathroom then I would definitely recommend it! This might vary university to university, but most accommodations are ensuites anyway. (there's only one in Portsmouth I believe that isn't)

I will say though, as someone who literally HATED the idea of sharing a bathroom, I now live in a student house where we share a bathroom, and it isn't that bad.

Hi TheArchitect365
It sounds like you want an en-suite and have the money to do so ! At my university there are different types of ensuites, there’s more expensive ones and cheaper ones ! I was fortunate enough to have an en-suite and I loved it ! It was so handy to have it there and I could shower whenever I wanted, I didn’t have to plan it around when others were using it etc ! So there were definitely benefits of having one in my opinion !

If you can, it’s definitely worth it for the cleanliness. It’s very much lucky dip for shared if you’ll end up having to live with a super disgusting bathroom for a whole year. Just not worth it.
