I have a feeling i did really bad in my gcse mock exams. I have my real gcse exams in may and now im more determined to do well and beat my bad mock grades.
Has anyone had bad mock grades and done better in the real thing?

I got better grades in every single subject in the final exams compared to the mock exams except for business where i got A* but ended up with an A.

Your mocks mean nothing.
In my mocks I got 1 A*, 4 As, 3 Bs, 1 C and 1 E. Compare this with my final results (see sig) and I did much better in the real exams. I got the same as my mock result or higher in every subject except history, where I went down from an A* to an A. I was so upset about my media studies mock because I got an E, but I got a B in the real thing and teachers say you can only realistically improve by one grade. Shows you what they know- I improved by 3! So don't worry if your mock grades are lower than you're hoping for- they're designed to shock you into working hard for the real exams.
Don't worry about the mocks. It just tests you how much you know so far. It also helps the teacher decide whether you are doing the foundation or higher tier paper.

The decision isn't based entirely on mock results. I got an E in my media studies mock, but was still entered for higher tier because my work during the course had been good. Your teachers will probably already have a clear idea of which tier you should be entered for and I doubt they'd change their minds just because of one bad exam.
I don't think higher and foundation tiers should be used, as the exam questions are the same and stuff.

Ok, i hope i dont get moved down. I've been doing badly in science especially and i feel i didn't do too well in the mock exam.

Well, if you didn't do very well, speak to your teacher about it, get help with the bits you find hard and as long as you promise to revise hard and show some progress between now and just before the real exams, you should still be entered for higher tier.
I agree. Though why did you post the same message four times?
I wish I was doing GCSEs again :frown:

Awww for the real gcses you should have more time to revise anyway so it shouldn't be so bad. Some of my mocks went really bad aswell but hopefully my coursework will bring me up a grade.

Oops lol! Sorry, didn't mean to do that!
I did my RS GCSE in year 10...
Mock: 64% - C, possibly a low B?
Real GCSE: 93.75% (150/160) A* ...(Paper 1: Luke 64/64. Paper 2: Ethics 59/64. Coursework: 27/32)

My mock wasn't bad, considering that:
*I was very depressed at the time
*I did no revision whatsoever (linked to being depressed)
*I did not sleep at all the night before (I had been not sleeping alternate nights as I'd got back from USA a week or so beforehand)
*I fell asleep in the exam
*I even got better marks in my mock than others who had been awake for the whole exam!

But most of my friends got As and A*s in the mock.
In the real thing, some got Bs, most got As and some got A*s.

I only had one GCSE last year so I focussed hard on it, gave up TV and going online for (what seemed like) a very long time and had a very good textbook to revise from.

So yes it is possible to do much better. But, I'm scared as hell now because that was ok, it was only 1 GCSE, but now I have TEN to do!! My mocks are in Jan and I just want to do really really well...(preferably both, but the real one s matter more to me!)

Remember: teachers tend to mark you down in your mocks so that you revise harder for the real thing - don't worry! Just revise hard and you will be ok!
