Absolutely loving it by all accounts :biggrin: Hard work and none of them realised just HOW much went into planning stuff but all seem really positive and really enjoying their placements. Two of them were in schools within 3 weeks of the course starting and were instantly saying how great it was. Was a teacher-fest at graduation!

They should have a disclaimer on the end stating that you will have NO life and spend all your spare time preparing lessons. 11 hour days ftl


I always consider teaching as my 'dropout' option if nothing else I want from life works out, but then I'd probably just try to find a job as a languages or lit teacher in a minor public school and give Oxbridge interview prep classes whilst taking increasingly bitter closet sips from my hipflask and waiting for death.

I've bounced back to the bosom of Essex, to a cold, chilly place without central heating, a place which the internet has not completely discovered yet, so I won't be on the good net much over the holidays. So make sure you all have a lovely Christmas and I look forward to spamming you RIGHT up in the new year.

P.S. I saw an apparition of death, like the ones in Death in Venice, on the train yesterday. He had the most disgusting skull I've ever seen. For your information: Death drinks herbal tea, reads the independent, has ginger hair, killed somebody in Reading yesterday, and urinates twice on a two hour train journey.

Ok, 9 different types of truffles made in three days (or will be, when I've rolled out the finals ones tomorrow):
Sauternes - awesomely sweet
Balsamic vinegar - strange, but I really like it
Port - surprisingly subtle, but a nice flavour
Brazilian Mojito (cachaca, mint, sugar and a bit of lime) - not sure on this, the flavour's all a bit subtle and without the sharpness of the drink it doesn't seem that Mojito-like
Creme de Mure (blackberry liqueur) - big, round, fruity flavour - very very nice
Frangelico (hazelnut liqueur)- it seemed to me like the flavours clashed a little, so a bit strange, but a day later it seems to have calmed down and my workmates loved it
Green tea - another subtle flavour, despite my best attempts and concentrating it, but a pleasant change from a normal truffle
Very intensely dark truffle (made with 100% cocoa solids chocolate and less sugar and cream than usual) - I felt the flavour was a little too distinctive, as I used a very 'individual' Madagascan chocolate, but they wen't quickly at work and I was surprised how palatable people found it
Guinness - I was shocked how strongly the flavour held up. It's a bit strange, as it has the slightly prickly, almost fizzy, flavour that Guinness has, but my guess is Guinness-lovers would like it

Will be tasting them at work over this week and working out which ones are worth making in larger quantities.

Finally sent my effing essay revisions off. I bet they reject it after all that.

I'm in indignant mode after learning how much the family meal I'm supposed to go to in some fancy Dublin restaurant is going to cost. At least £100 a head, before wine. Obviously the current pound:euro situation is not helping. And I have to pay for my mother. This is all because the investment banker of the family, who made the booking, has totally forgotten what it's like to live in the real world on a normal salary. Grrr.
