Hiya!
Just wondering how everyone's leicester interview went.
I had mine yesterday - 11/11 and the following questions were asked:
(btw were VERY VERY friendly and not pushy in their questioning at all - very encouraging)
- what subjects
- fave subject
- last practical experiment i did in chemistry
- why med
- why leic
- what bad qualities do i haev and how have i overcome them
- what makes a good doctor
- what do i think of doctors who are criticised in the press
- would I stay in one place to work or move around
- what is the welsh baccalaureate? - personal for me, i suppose...
- asked about this project id done about welsh/spanish nhs
a couple of other minor ones
lasted 20 minutes... without greeting each other and tieing everything up.
really enjoyed self - interview panel was a med student called Nadia and a professor of biochemistry but there were 2 other panels running at the same time one with a professor of psychiatry and a student...not sure about the other one.

Reread your PS and think of questions which could come up (probably work experiece, hobbies) in addition to the general "why medicine", "why Leicester". And you could find a nice/understandable science news/breakthrough which you can discuss, if asked.

There was a thread around a few months ago where people interviewed for med had posted all their q's. Don't know which bit of the forum I read it on though, but still might be worth looking for.
Hey there!

I'm currently at Leicester med school-you honestly have nothing to worry about! The interviewers do their best to put you at ease and the questions are usually very general. All I can remember from mine is:

What did you do this morning? (the DR tour, etc)
Why medicine? (talkfor ageeees about it)
What role does politics play in the NHS?
What happens once you've graduated?

Leicester medical school is brill-we're a really supportive group and everyone is lovely and friendly -it rocks!!Plus we get our own patients in the first semester! Not sure if this is the same for other med schools...

Anyway the best of luck, I'm sure you'll be fine.

Yes, big up the course. When I was asked that, I also made a big deal about genetics (in case you don't know - which you should by now - Leicester is famous for genetics, genetic fingerprinting was developed there) and I was, and am, very interested in genetics. I said that I felt the opportunities for learning more about it were better there than at other universities
(obviously though, don't say this if it's not true, as they will then ask you more about it - however, if you *have* read 'The Double Helix', it's a gift to you  )

I also talked about Leicester as a city - cosmpolitan, vibrant etc
