get a white filling, at least it looks toothy...
I'd go for white personally.
The cons of white filling is they cost more than silver fillings (at my dentist its £75 per filling) and they don't last as long.

i would hate to go back again to the dentist again to get them replaced :/

Silver fillings are only £44ish on the nhs band cap.

I have two silvers, both at the back of my mouth. They look horrible but I was a sugar fiend when I was little.

white-i mean, why show off the fact that you have fillings by spending £££s on blinging yur mouth out?I'd not want mine to be obvious.

Get white, it's worth the investment imo! Anything other than white looks awful.

Gold and silver fillings look UGLY... seriously.

Get a white one.

I had white ones on some of my milk teeth when I was younger, nobody could notice, very discreet.
White. Otherwise you'll look like a pirate. And not in a good way.
On back teeth most dentist say silver as they dont leak as much as white. Im not allowed silver have a sensitivity. White look better but arent so hard wearing.

dental students perspective: if you actually mean a filling and not a crown/cap, i'd say white. The tooth coloured one is much much better for your tooth, doesnt make your tooth as weak as the silver and looks so much better. And white fillings can last for years and years- 10 years even (this can vary, but it would last the same time as a silver filling if not longer). The most likely reason it would need to be replaced if you have decay underneath the filling, but you could get that with silver too.

If you have the money- white definately.

I didn't know you could get gold filling- gold crowns you can, but not gold fillings.

My dentist charges around £35 per white filling- on top of the NHS charge, so your charge is about right.

white...anything else looks tacky never mind how much it costs.

Gold and silver in your mouth looks ridiculous.

Get a tooth-coloured (ie. white-ish) one that.

I've got one that you can't even see unless you have a magnifying glass and know it's there.

Get a white one!
I have had it for about 4 years now and it's fine, but it has got a bit sensitive to hot and cold food/drink.
It depends where the filling is.

If its at the back then get a silver one because no one will see them.

you might have a decay underneath your filling!

happened to me and thats why i need a replacement.
I have 2 silver fillings and 2 gold crowns and 7 non existant teeth.

First how long do they last or are they ok for life?

And secondly all my missing teeth are at the back, but I would like less gaps in my teeth and better teeth- not that theyre noticeable bad though.

Its genetic unfortunely, and the dentists have never recommended braces or anything, only that they need to try to preserve my teeth.

I was wondering how much it costs and whether it is worth it?

My Dad has had a gold for over 30years.

But from a cosmetic perspective, and most people I'm sure will agree, WHITE is RIGHT.
