Why was it important for slave ship captains to de-humanise slaves as cargo?
i cant find the answer on google and im stuck on it, i dont really understand what it's asking and it's not making sense
if anyone could help that'd be appreciated <3

Do you really need to look this up?
Think about how you'd feel if you were the ship's captain. Given that you had to keep slaves in inhumane conditions and chuck the corpses overboard if they died would you feel better if:
a. You thought of them as people just like you - just like your wife or your child
b. You thought of them as just another cargo - just like sugar or tobacco. If it spoils you throw it away.
