Fairy lights

Ok, I'm thinking of putting some fairy lights up in my room, but I'm not sure exactly how I'd arrange them to look good- so I'm asking for suggestions.

I mean, for a start where do I put them- on my wall? How do I arrange them on my wall? Or what about around the window, but wouldn't then get in the way of my curtains?

Please please please give me suggestions. I love the soft lighting fairy lights give and I really want some in my room, I'm just not sure how to make them look good. Please help! Thanks!

If you have a poster up you can put them around it. Or around a mirror (not by water).

I'd buy a house plant (like a Ficus - ornamental fig) and cover it with the lights and put it in front of a mirror - to double the effect!
mirrors, around a wardrobe looks good....or the good old window! around the edge!

ooh..fairy lights..yay.

at home i have some up round a poster which is at the head of my bed.

in my uni room:

a set arranged going round the corner of the wall that my bed is against (stick pins in the wall & then drape them), which is very pretty.

then i have another set that run along the mantlepieces of the two old fireplaces in the room.

so either 1 on at a time gives atmospheric light for my bed area or entertaining. & i have both on when i'm feeling like it..

so it depends on the layout of your room i think.

Do you mean at the top of the wall, where it meets the ceiling?

hmm..hard to explain this - shall have to look & see if i have any photos.

not exactly at the top of the wall, no, though the position varies.

they run from the wall that the head of my bed is at then round the corner, so they run along side the length of my bed. & i've stuck them to the wall with pins, so the string of lights is sort of draped & loops hang down & go up to different levels.

i dislike rigid lines of light, so it's the same with the mantle piece ones, they sort of curve & form a wavy line.

hold them in different places & see what you like best!

You can get a really nice hanging fairy lights in a tube thing from argos.
My daughter has hers drapped across the wall a little down from the ceiling. In u shapes if you know what I mean. Shes even wrapped a feather boa around them for added effect. She also has them around her mirror which has the practical effect of helping her when he puts on her make-up.
ps excuse if there any spelling mistakes cos i'm having some xmas spirit
